About Us

Department of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science

AI and Data Science are the key enablers for disruptive innovations of this century, these emerging technological revolutions have reshaped our work and life style. From the start of June 2021, VPPCOE &VA, Mumbai establishes a new department “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science”. The department will be driven by its commitment to excel in research, design and development of next generation cutting-edge technologies in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics. Our mission is to cultivate Industry-Academia partnership, drive collaborative research with other domains and equip our talents to contribute on multi-disciplinary projects by translating the developed technology into real world impact. 

The unique undergraduate program, B.E. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS), aims the students to acquire technical skills to perform data processing, analysis and visualization in multiple real-time applications.  Program envisions to equip students with the ability to identify and assess societal, health, safety and cultural issues with an emphasize on identifying their consequent responsibilities as engineers of offering optimal and effective solutions for the same.

The designed curriculum is interdisciplinary at the core – straddling computer Science blended with Mathematical Foundations, Artificial Intelligence Techniques, Machine Learning Principles, Statistical Methods, Data Science Philosophies, and their applications across multiple domains. Curriculum also covers on sub-field such as Big Data Analytics, Deep Learning and Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition. This programme offers value added professional courses such as:

• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

• Digital Forensic

• Data Science

• Artificial Intelligence for Cyber Security.

The curriculum assures to provide opportunities for students to explore a number of transdisciplinary specialization areas including Digital Reality, Visual Computing, Communications and Networking, Proficiency in Languages and cutting-edge Technologies pertaining to Data Sciences, Robotics, and smart IOT Projects. The program allows its students to venture into a management specialization courses like Entrepreneurship skill Development, Ethics and Policy Issues in AI Computing which emphasizes on both AI and Management studies for the scope of entrepreneurial pursuits.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

After 3 to 4 years of graduation, the graduates will be :

Create highly skilled graduates equipped with a strong knowledge in the field of Artificial intelligence (AI) and Data Science (DS) for creating innovative solutions.

Create engineers to be able to use and develop software systems in complex data intensive and AI related applications.

Demonstrate professionalism in graduates and reflect on personal performance and self-management processes as a means of continued professional development and lifelong learning in areas of emerging technologies.

Graduates should be able to evolve AI based efficient domain specific processes for effective decision making in several domains.

Graduates should be able to create and apply the theoretical knowledge of AI and DS along with practical industrial tools and techniques to solve societal problems.
